Lindsay Lohan Bails On Barbara Walters Interview To Avoid The Hot Seat

Lindsay Lohan Bails On Barbara Walters Interview

Lindsay Lohan could've used the opportunity to clear her name, but instead, the troubled actress has decided to bail on an interview with Barbara Walters for an episode of ABC's "20/20."

Walters first reached out to Lohan about an interview when it was revealed the actress would star in Lifetime's "Liz & Dick" over the summer. Lohan was hesitant, but reportedly agreed to the sit-down, which would have aired on Nov. 16, a week before the TV movie airs. Walters previously visited the "Liz & Dick" set to film behind-the-scenes footage as well as conduct some smaller interviews, according to E! News. This would have been coupled with a no-holds-barred talk that would have touched on the 26-year-old's personal struggles.

On Friday, TMZ reported that Lohan has bailed on Walters under the guidance of her new PR team, Rogers & Cowan, who don't want their client to be put in the hot seat.

Producers of "20/20" made it clear that Walters wanted to discuss Lohan's personal life, including allegations that she lied to California police about a June car crash on Pacific Coast Highway, according to TMZ. So, Lohan's team decided to axe the interview to prevent her from saying something that could mess up her case.

Rogers & Cowan confirmed the cancelation of Lohan's interview with Walters to Deadline.com. A source added that the "20/20" stint was supposed to focus only on promotion of Lohan's "Liz & Dick," which tells the story of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's stormy romance.

Lohan reportedly feels terrible, according to TMZ. "[Lindsay] has a lot of respect and admiration for her, and knows the interview will be done accurately and fairly,” a source told Access Hollywood before the cancellation.

The actress's new PR team may be treading carefully in the wake of former publicist Steve Honig's resignation. Honig refused to elaborate on the details behind the professional split last month, telling E! News, "I'm not discussing this out of respect for my client."

Honig worked with Lohan for nearly two years, representing her side throughout the June car accident, a $100,000 jewelry theft, a hit-and-run, an alleged hotel assault, a blow-out fight with Dina Lohan and a failed intervention.
