Todd English Settles Lawsuit By Estate Of Priceline Founder For Over $230,000

Todd English Forks Over $232,000 To Settle Lawsuit

It's been a hard year for Todd English.

The Boston Herald reported Thursday that the celebrity chef settled an ongoing lawsuit mounted against him by the estate of the late Priceline founder Jord Poster, to the tune of $232,000. Poster, who died this summer of lung cancer, loaned English over $300,000 back in 2002 to help the chef get through some stormy business waters. But then English ignored several requests by Poster to repay the loan, so he was forced to initiate a lawsuit.

This latest six-figure settlement comes less than two months after it was revealed that English had been sued by the landlord of his flagship Olives restaurant in Charleston, Mass., who claimed that the chef owed him over $700,000 in back rent. And that's just one of several lawsuits that was mounted against English for various unpaid bills -- another claimed that English owed over $1 million in rent for Kingfish Hall, his restaurant in Boston's Faneuil Hall.

Not that English has had only bad luck recently. Over the summer, his Food Hall at the Plaza Hotel in New York expanded significantly, in response to surprising popularity and solid reviews. He's also allegedly opening up another branch in Chicago. Gotta pay those legal bills somehow!
