Forget Mitt and Barack. Californians have a lot more to worry about besides the next inhabitants of The White House (besides, we've already decided on it).

Our state's ballot initiative system transforms election season into a "magical and confusing time," as HuffPost SF put it, when your retired father-in-law becomes an authority on corporate tax loopholes and your artsy friends become clinical experts on transgenic organisms.

How should we save our schools: a tax on the rich or a tax on all? Should we repeal the death penalty? Label all GMO foods? Impose harsher sentences on human traffickers? Reform the Three Strikes Law?

And for lucky LA County residents, an #OnlyInLA moment at the polls: to wrap or not to wrap?

For all you crammers out there, here's a cheat sheet on the county's three measures and the state's 11 propositions:

But first, you have to find your polling place. All LA County polling places are open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Nov. 6. And if you're in line by the time the deadline hits, the polling place is legally obligated to stay open until you cast your vote.

Once you're done with the day's civic duty, sport an "I Voted" sticker to get in free at a 7:50 p.m. showing of the new indie film "Democracy at Work." You could also eat and drink your way to election results or rock on at any of these 10 Election Day viewing parties.
