'Devil You Know': Woman's Mother Forced Her To Help Kill Stepdad

On "The Devil You Know," viewers were introduced to Kim Wohlert, whose mother Judy Gough forced to help her in the murder of Kim’s stepfather, Lloyd Ford.

In 1980, Judy made Kim’s brothers dig a large hole their yard, saying it was to plant a tree. Kim was just 12-years-old, and Judy made her stay home from school. Then Judy drugged Lloyd, pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger.

“I squeezed my eyes so tight I thought they were gonna bleed,” Kim recalled.

Judy ordered Kim to help her put Lloyd’s body in a trunk. “He had his robe on that we got him for Father’s Day. She told me I would have to grab him under his legs to get him in, and she had him under the arms. I started just screaming,” she remembered.

Kim ran from the house. When she got back, Lloyd was gone, and the hole in the yard was filled in.

For years, Judy encouraged Kim to keep quiet about what had happened, until one day -- under stress from a divorce, she told her boss about the murder, and he called police.

Police found human bones in that backyard, and Judy was put on trial, where she actually tried to blame the murder on Kim. She also said Lloyd had abused her.

The Idaho Statesman reports in 2008 Judy admitted to killing Lloyd back in 1980. She is now serving a 10-year prison sentence.

On Twitter, one viewer said this show makes it scary to trust anybody.

Kim has written a book about her story, called "Unworthy: What Would You Do For Your Mother?"
