Finnair Teams With Marimekko In Design Partnership (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Finnair & Marimekko Team Up

Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, is teaming up with Finnish design house Marimekko to bring some style back to the friendly skies.

Beginning in spring 2013, all of Finnair's planes will feature a Marimekko for Finnair collection of textiles and tableware, emblazoned with Marimekko's classic patterns, reports PR Newswire. The collaboration will last three years.

"Finnair has a strong design heritage, and this cooperation brings our design thinking to a new level," Mika Vehvilᅢᄂinen, Finnair CEO, said in the press release. "Our goal is to become a design airline, and bring our customers unique experiences for all five senses."

An Airbus A340 bearing the Unikko floral print is already operating between Helsinki and the airline's Asian destinations. Another aircraft in Marimekko livery will follow in the spring.

For those who are fans of the designs, an exclusive selection of Marimekko designs will be available for sale aboard Finnair in flight, as well as at the Finnair Plus Shop.
