4 University Of Buffalo Students Arrested, Allegedly Connected To Drug Ring

Parking Ticket Leads To Students' Arrests And Drug Ring Charges

Buffalo police officers arrested four students and three others in connection to what police are calling a drug ring, according to the Buffalo News.

The newspaper reports police seized $64,000 in cash, nine pounds of marijuana, eight ounces of Ecstasy and a half ounce of cocaine from 51 W. Northrup Place.

Police reports indicate the arrests were a lucky break for officers. An officer returned to check the status of a car tagged 45 minutes earlier because it was parked in the wrong direction. When the officer approached the residence's backdoor to confront the owner, officers saw drugs in the plain view, Northeast District Chief Kimberly L. Beaty told the News.

The Spectrum, a UB student newspaper, reports

Andrew Pawluk, a media study major; Anthony Argiros, a geography major; Mark Harding, a school of management student; and Ruben Abramov, a sociology major were charged with criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and use of drug paraphernalia.

Brennon Hall, Joseph Mruk and Jonathan Ho were also arrested and are unaffiliated with the university.

The Spectrum reports possible disciplinary actions from the university in addition to their criminal charges. The Buffalo News says the arrested could also face federal charges due to the quantity of drugs seized.

The residence was in a popular neighborhood of fraternity houses and other UB-affiliated housing, according to local news station WKBW. Beaty told the station they plan to increase patrols in the area in response to neighbors' complaints that students from campus ride the bus to the area to party.
