Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar became the target of an investigation after he sported what is considered to be a commonly known gay slur on his eye black during a recent baseball game against the Boston Red Sox. The action -- seen as homophobic -- won him a three-game suspension.
Host Marc Lamont Hill discussed the slur and Escobar's resulting punishment with experts on HuffPost Live Wednesday.

Jason Page, a host with ESPN Radio in New York, believes Escobar's suspension was too light, suggesting he should have been restricted from playing for at least 10, maybe even 15 games.
"I think a major league sport needs to send a message once and for all that this isn't going to be tolerated," he said.
HuffPost Gay Voices Editor Noah Michelson also sounded off about the incident, saying the term "maricon" offensive to many in the queer community.
"When people use those words, especially people who have a platform and a lot of visibility, it creates a certain culture that says this kind of action, this kind of language is okay," Michelson said.
