Marwin Gonzalez Injury: Astros Player Takes Flight, Sprains Ankle After Out At First Base (VIDEO)

WATCH: Astros Shortstop Suffers Bizarre Injury

Ladies and gentleman, your 2012 Houston Astros.

In the bottom of the ninth against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night, Houston shortstop Marwin Gonzalez tried to beat out a ball at first base fired over from San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval. But what looked like a routine out at first turned into a bizarre injury.

Gonzalez stepped awkwardly on the bag with his left foot and suddenly launched into mid-air, landing on his back and rolling on the ground. Luckily, he walked away on his own with only a sprained ankle.

The Astros fell to the Giants 8-4 for their fourteenth loss in sixteen games.
