Prue Acton, Olympic Uniform Designer, In An Awesome Top Hat (PHOTO)

We Think Top Hats Could Make A Comeback

Born in 1943, Prue Acton is an Australian fashion designer who established her own apparel business at the age of 20. By the age of 21 she was selling over 1,000 dresses a week and garnering international media attention. Not only was Acton the first Australian woman to show her own collection in New York in 1967 but she was also bestowed the honor of designing the Australian Olympic uniforms three separate times (1978, 1984 and 1988).

The blonde beauty had an eye for dressing other people, but clearly had equally as much fun dressing herself. We love her in this 1967 photo wearing a black shift dress with a white ruffle collar. Her cool white tights and black patent shoes have us looking forward to the fall season. And if you ever wondered how to wear a top hat, look no further for your inspiration.
