Family-Friendly 'Into The Woods' Matinee At The Delacorte Theater This Afternoon (VIDEO)

A 'G-Rated' Version Of 'Into The Woods'

This afternoon, The Public Theater will present a family friendly matinee of Into The Woods, performing only the first act of the musical. The Sondheim-written musical is based on James Lapine’s book, and blends several well-known fairy tales with the original story of the Baker and his Wife. Today at 3 PM, audiences will experience only the good parts, where the characters' wishes are granted and everyone lives happily ever after.

The Tony-Award winning musical, which is playing as part of The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater, opened earlier this month to mixed reviews. The production stars Amy Adams, Denis O’Hare and Donna Murphy and despite being called an “exhaustingly busy production,” producers are eyeing a possible Broadway run in the near future.

A limited number of tickets are available for today’s matinee, which are being given away via a line at the Delacorte Theater. The production has been extended through September 1. Find more information here.
