New Jersey Property Bought For $550,000 Now On Market For $13.9 Million (VIDEO)

Inside The House Bought For $550K That's On The Market For $13.9 Million

A couple who purchased a piece of property in Colt's Neck, N.J., for $550,000 in 1997 have put it on the market for $13.9 million, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The paper reports that the owners -- David Harris, who works in finance, and his wife, Linda, a dentist -- have made quite a few upgrades over the years to the 10 acre property, including the addition of an ice rink, indoor basketball court, movie theater and accommodations for their horses and Alpaca sheep.

According to Realtor.com, where the home is listed with Claude Ranieri of American Realty Associates, the main house is approximately 15,000 square feet and has five bedroom and nine bathrooms. The property also features a three stall cedar barn, a riding ring, a pool, and enough garage space to accomodate five cars.

"I do do all the cleaning myself, which might be a little alarming to people. It's alarming to me sometimes," Linda Harris told the Journal in a video interview.

Last month, a man living in Nova Scotia put a home on the market for $2 million that he purchased in the early 1980s for just $15,000. In addition to adding modern amenities, that owner restored the house so it fit with its 200-year-old history, with touches like a stained glass window and a candlelit cellar.

Earlier this month, another couple made headlines for the unique additions they're been making to their home. Dubbed "Versailles," the house is still under construction in Florida and is set to be around 90,000 square feet.
