Charlie Sheen On 'American Idol'? Actor Amused By Judge Speculation (VIDEO)

Charlie Sheen Addresses Rumors About Him As An 'Idol' Judge

There have been plenty of names thrown around since Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced they would not be returning to "American Idol." The speculation has been so strange that Jerry Lewis and Charlie Sheen have been mentioned in the conversation. Sheen talked about the rumors on "The Tonight Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC), where he told Jay Leno he first heard about it on the news.

In other words, Sheen was never officially approached by the show. That didn't stop him from jokingly coming up with his terms for accepting the position, and telling Leno that he thought he could serve the show and its contestants well.

"I think I could be helpful," he said. "Give these kids some guidance without leading them to a suicide, you know?"

Considering some of Steven Tyler's "Idol" antis, maybe Sheen wouldn't be such an outlandish choice. He'd certainly draw viewer's attention.

Charlie Sheen can be seen in "Anger Management," Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on FX. "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
