Diane von Furstenberg's Platform Boots...And How To Get The Look (PHOTOS)

DvF Proves Platforms Aren't Just For Pumps

When Diane von Furstenberg married into her former husband's royal Austrian family, she found a way to create a name for herself: by designing clothes. The couple's 1972 divorce barred Diane from using her princess title, but no matter, because the iconic wrap dress creator became a ruler -- of women's fashion. (And the CFDA agrees: they just extended her presidency through 2014).

This 1970s photo captured the future Mrs. Barry Diller working a pair of enviable knee-high platform boots (and matching shirts with her man!). It was a popular style that would reemerge in the '90s; we'd like to see this cold-weather alternative to platform pumps make a comeback today. Would you?
