Lou Engle Dreams Of 100,000 Ex-Gays And Ex-Lesbians Curing AIDS

Anti-Gay Preacher Dreams Of 100,000 Gays Converting To Heterosexuality And Curing AIDS

Lou Engle, so-called "visionary" and co-founder of TheCall solemn assemblies, a "movement of prayer gathering young adults [who] pray and fast for breakthrough and revival," has a long history of slinging anti-gay rhetoric.

Last month, as Rightwingwatch.org notes, he asked his followers to call on the spirits and inspiration of Confederate generals to help fight against the "homosexual agenda" and now he has a new hope for the future of America.

In a recent appearance in association with The Ramp, a youth ministry, Engle told a crowd of young adults that he has dreamed of 100,000 gay and lesbian men and women being converted and leaving behind their homosexuality.

In the clip above he preaches the conversions would be so powerful that these 100,000 new ex-gays would "be the preachers of righteousness in their own communities" and bring about "radical salvations and healings of AIDS."

Engle calls the crowd to pray with him and adds:

"This is the issue of your day. Something goes off in your heart when you touch this one. God give us 100,000 gay and lesbian men and women to be radically transformed! We're asking God! Loose a movement -- a divine breakthrough! 100,000 gay and lesbian men and women! Loose a sound that D.C. can't contend with! Loose a sound that the media can't contend with!"

Engle is not the only preacher to unleash strange and dangerous comments about and against the LGBT community in recent months.
