Roxanne Wilson, GOP Rep. Joe Wilson's Wife, Confronts South Carolina State Senator Jake Knotts (VIDEO)

Wife Of 'You Lie' GOP Rep Angrily Confronts State Lawmaker

Roxanne Wilson, wife of U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), confronted a South Carolina Republican state senator on Tuesday after the lawmaker blocked a measure that she had supported.

"You know it's wrong, you are self serving," Wilson told GOP state Sen. Jake Knotts in the statehouse, moments after he'd worked to derail a measure to reinstate some 180 disqualified candidates and allow them back on June primary ballots.

South Carolina's WISTV reports that Wilson's sister, Suzanne Moore, was one of the candidates who had been removed from the ballot by a South Carolina Supreme Court ruling earlier this month.

After Knotts turned around to pass through a door, a security officer approached Wilson and asked her to calm down.

"Get your hand off me," Wilson told the man, brushing his arm away from her. "I don't know who you are, but go away."

Wilson then followed Knotts through the hallway and into his office, where they reportedly spoke for a few minutes before emerging. Knotts then kissed Wilson on the cheek before she turned around, both smiling.

Knotts made national news in the 2010 elections for referring to Indian-American Nikki Haley, then a GOP candidate for South Carolina governor, as a "raghead." Wilson's husband, Joe Wilson, also created controversy when he shouted "You lie!" during a speech from President Barack Obama on health care reform. At the time, Mrs. Wilson said she asked her husband "who's the nut that hollered out?" and was shocked to learn he had done it.
