Teri Hatcher's Post-'Desperate Housewives' Gig Is ...

Teri Hatcher is moving from "Desperate Housewives" to "Jane By Design." According to ABC Family, Hatcher will make her directorial debut on the series and appear in four episodes.

"I'm thrilled for the opportunity to direct. So many of the crew and cast of 'Desperate Housewives' have been encouraging me to do this for a long time, from Vanessa Williams, James Denton, to the talented camera crew department and producers. Now that I have time, I'm excited to whole heartedly conquer new ventures," Hatcher said in a statement. "'Jane By Design' is charming, with very funny performances. I look forward to working with new and old friends over there and helping them tell stories both in front and behind the camera."

Hatcher will play Jane's (Erica Dasher) long-lost mother. The series follows the titular teenager who gets a job at a fashion house when they mistake her for an adult. Andie MacDowell and Nicholas Roux also star and Hatcher's first episode airs June 19.

"We are beyond excited to have Teri join the cast of ‘Jane By Design,’ coming off of her incredible run on ‘Desperate Housewives’ and making ABC Family the home of her directorial debut," Kate Juergens, executive vice president of original programming and development at ABC Family, said in a statement. "Teri's talent will bring the perfect blend of depth, comedy and emotion to the greatly anticipated role of Jane’s long-lost mother."

"Jane By Design" returns to ABC Family with new episodes on Mon., June 5 at 9 p.m. ET.
