Tim Tebow Traded? Jets, Broncos Reportedly Reach Agreement On Deal

REPORT: Tim Tebow Traded To New York.. Again

Tim Tebow has reportedly been traded to New York.

Again.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Denver Broncos have agreed to ship the quarterback and a seventh-round draft pick to the Jets in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick and a sixth-round draft pick.

This reported trade caps one of the more confusing days in Tebowmania. Hours after the quarterback had reportedly been traded to the New York Jets, the drama surrounding the popular but polarizing player continued to develop.

Shortly after Jay Glazer of Fox Sports initially reported on Wednesday afternoon that the Jets and Broncos had agreed to a deal to send Tebow to New York, Schefter tweeted that negotiations had hit a snag regarding the repayment of bonus money. Despite the fact that the Jets had announced the deal via Twitter and Facebook, the St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars were back in the running, per Schefter, should the trade not go through. St. Louis Rams beat writer Jim Thomas dispelled the notion that the Rams were serious players.

In what seems to have been the last twist before the revived deal was reported Wednesday evening, Schefter tweeted that the Broncos were allowing Tebow to choose his destination.

Shortly after tweeting that the Broncos had given Tebow -- who grew up in Jacksonville and starred at the University of Florida -- that choice, Schefter tweeted that decision would be made in the best interest of the franchise.

Regarding Tebow's input into the trade, Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted that Tebow did choose the Jets over his hometown Jaguars.

The deal reported by Schefter -- and shortly thereafter by Glazer -- was brokered with the Jets agreeing to pick up half of the bonus repayment that had reportedly put the deal on hold in the first place.

While the reactions among both Jets and Jaguars supporters on Twitter was mixed, the pair of Gang Green fans photographed in Manhattan already wearing Jets jerseys emblazoned with Tebow's name and his No. 15 must be somewhat relieved that the deal went down.

Adding to the confusion of the day, the official Twitter account for ESPN's Sportscenter (@Sportscenter) mistakenly retweeted a mock trade report by a fake Adam Schefter Twitter account (@AdarnSchefter) that indicated the Jaguars had acquired the quarterback from Denver.

Although they deleted the tweet, ESPN later apologized for the "erroneous report."

The profile for the fake Schefter account reads: "Often confused with the inferior AdaM Schefter. Fake information. This is a fake account. Breaking fake news. Just trolling America." The location is listed as ESPN.

While @AdarnSchefter may have merely been using the Tebow trade story as a launching pad for a practical joke, there were plenty of others on Twitter actively debating, celebrating and lamenting the deal. Here are some of the best Twitter reactions to the reported Tebow trade and all the drama that came with it.
