Joe Walsh, 'Analog Man': Longtime Eagle Releases First Solo Track In Two Decades

Rock Legend Releases First Song In Two Decades

Joe Walsh has released the lead single off his first solo album in twenty years.

The track, "Analog Man," premiered on Rolling Stone this morning. It's the rock equivalent of Jay-Z's "Death of Autotune," an anti-digital manipulation screed that features Walsh railing against everything from LCD TV screens to e-mail.

"Welcome to cyberspace, I'm lost in a fog," the 64-year-old sings. "The whole world's living in a digital dream / it's not really there, it's all on the screen."

Walsh has one of the most commercially successful careers in rock and roll, doing stints in not one but three popular bands. The guitarist was a part of the James Gang, Barnstorm, and, of course, the Eagles. On Analog Man, Walsh is joined by Ringo Starr (Walsh's brother-in-law) on drums.

Paul McCartney enlisted Walsh to play guitar at his 2012 Grammy Awards Show performance of "My Valentine," off McCartney's album Kisses on the Bottom. Walsh later joined Springsteen and McCartney on stage for a medley performance.

His last solo effort, Songs for a Dying Planet, was released in 1992. "Vote for Me," a single off the album, reached the tenth spot on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.

Take a listen to "Analog Man" below and let us know what you think in the comments. Analog Man, the album, is due in stores June 5 on Fantasy Records/Concord.
