Body Of Man Found In Burning Garbage Pile In Marine Park, Brooklyn

Body Discovered In Burning Pile Of Garbage

A man's charred body was found in a pile of burning garbage in Brooklyn Thursday morning.

Firefighters made the grisly discovery at 4AM after responding to a call for a garbage fire outside the Furniture Zone store on Hendrickson Street in Marine Park, Brooklyn. After extinguishing the blaze, they uncovered the body of an unidentified white male in his 20s. It was burnt beyond recognition.

"A lot of homeless people hang around back there," a taxi stand owner told The New York Daily News of the area where the body was found he said. "It was probably one of them."

The investigation is ongoing and police have to determine if the man was homeless or if there was any foul play involved.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
