The New York Giants entered their latest NFC East grudge match against the Washington Redskins with very little margin of error if they hoped to reach the playoffs.
Four quarters later, that margin had shrunk from "very little" to "nearly none." While there were a slew of Blue misfires and brain lapses that resulted in the Giants' loss to the Skins, dropping their record to 7-7 on the season, few loomed as large as the epic drop by normally sure-handed wide receiver Hakeem Nicks.
Down by three points in the first quarter, Eli Manning hit Nicks in stride on 3rd and 7 for what looked to be a sure touchdown. But somehow he let the ball bounce off of his face mask and then chest before falling incomplete. The Giants would be forced to punt and the play would ultimately set the tone for the rest of a game in which the Giants would trail throughout before losing 23-10.
