Chaz Bono, Jennifer Elia Breakup: Engagement Called Off

After dating for more than six years, Chaz Bono and Jennifer Elia have called it quits. The "Dancing with the Stars" almost-champion confirmed the news to TMZ through his rep who stated that the pair "are no longer a couple."

Just last month, Bono's documentary series, "Being Chaz" showed Bono proposing to his longtime girlfriend on top of the Seattle Space Needle. But even though the pair, who have been dating since 2005, is putting a period on their relationship, that doesn't mean they will not continue to be in one another's lives: "They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection toward one another," Bono's rep continues. "No further amplification will be forthcoming and they ask that you respect their privacy at this time."

It's been a big year for Bono -- who completed his gender reassignment surgery in July 2010 -- from becoming a fan favorite on "Dancing with the Stars" to debuting his heavily-praised documentary "Becoming Chaz", which followed him through his dramatic physical and emotional journey. Elia was by Bono's side every step of the way, supporting her partner through his transformation.
