John Lennon's Tooth Is Up For Auction

Would you pay $16,000 for someone's old tooth? What if it happened to belong to John Lennon?

The late musician's tooth will go up for auction next month, reports BBC News. The item belongs to Dot Jarlett, a former housekeeper for the Beatles who received the tooth from Lennon back in the 1960s. Lennon reportedly planned to throw it out before giving it to Jarlett as a "souvenir" for her daughter, who was a Beatles fan.

"It is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it," Karen Fairweather of Omega Auctions told the BBC, adding that the tooth could sell for as much as six figures.

The sale of Lennon's tooth joins the auction of a letter penned by Paul McCartney as just another event in the parade of Beatles-related news in the past few months:
