Founder/President, She's the First

Tammy Tibbetts passionately advocates the power of social media to create social change. She is the founder and president of She’s the First, a not-for-profit that sponsors girls’ education in the developing world, helping them be first in their families to graduate. In the process, She’s the First fosters leadership and self-awareness in young Americans, by inspiring them to lead creative fundraisers and correspond with sponsored students. These efforts shape a rising generation of well-educated global leaders, future philanthropists, and cross-cultural communicators.

Tammy co-founded GIRLS WHO ROCK, the benefit concert for She’s the First during Internet Week New York, which has raised more than $23,000 in two years for girls’ sponsorships in Tanzania and Uganda.

She’s the First has been recognized at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall and in the Huffington Post’s “Greatest Person of the Day” series. In 2010, Levi’s named Tammy a Social Change Ambassador for its Shape What’s to Come campaign.

While scaling She’s the First, Tammy freelances as the social media editor at Seventeen magazine. She is a member of the Young Entrepreneur Council and New York Women in Communications. Tammy graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of New Jersey with a B.A. in journalism.
