Shadi Bushra

Sudanese-American freelance journalist and photographer

Shadi Bushra is an aspiring photographer and journalist born in Sudan and raised in Minnesota. He is currently a senior at Stanford University, majoring in international relations with minors in Middle Eastern languages, literatures and cultures, and human biology. Shadi is conducting thesis research within Stanford's Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law on how youth social movements affect the political process in Sudan and Egypt. Outside of class, he serves as the editor-in-chief of the Stanford Progressive and as the student body's co-chair of Global Engagement. Shadi’s photography and blog can be found at shadibushra.com. This fall, Shadi will begin earning his Master of Sciences through Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism's Stabile Program in Investigative Journalism, specializing in digital media.
