Matteo Pistono is the author of In the Shadow of the Buddha: Secret Journeys, Sacred Histories, and Spiritual Discovery in Tibet, and writes for the Washington Post’s On Faith. Matteo lived and traveled throughout the Himalayas for more than a decade, bringing to the West first hand account of China’s human rights abuses in Tibet. Matteo founded Nekorpa, which preserves and protects sacred pilgrimage sites around the world, and he sits on the Executive Council of International Network of Engaged Buddhists, and the Board of Directors of Rigpa Fellowship and the Conservancy for Tibetan Art and Culture.
