Marjorie Hansen Shaevitz, Founder/Director of adMISSION POSSIBLE is an award-winning author, speaker and professional counselor who has successfully helped thousands of students select and get admitted to colleges of their choice. Based on her more than 20 years of experience in the field, Sourcebooks, Inc published Marjorie’s book, adMISSION POSSIBLE®: The Dare to Be Yourself Guide for Getting into the Best Colleges for You. Hansen Shaevitz is a Member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), a Member of the Independent Educational Consultant's Association (IECA) and a Huffington Post blogger, College section. She was one of ten people to receive the Neighborhood Hero Award from the San Diego Mayor's Office for her college admissions work on Admit One, a program that serves low income, first generation, under-represented students of color through the San Diego Public Library system. She is a former member of the Stanford University's Parents' Board and Chair of the Advisory Council for Stanford's Institute for Women & Gender.After completing a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology at Stanford University, Marjorie was Orientation Officer at the East West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She then moved to Stanford as a member of the Dean of Students staff. Hansen Shaevitz also directed the College Re-entry Program for Adults at the University of California, San Diego. She is the former Chair the California Commission on the Status of Women. Co-author of the McGraw-Hill book So You Want to Go Back to School, she also authored the best-selling books, The Confident Woman (Harmony/Random House) and The Superwoman Syndrome (Warner Books).
