Lenny Sanicola

Senior Practice Leader, WorldatWork

Leonard “Lenny” Sanicola, serves as a spokesperson and ambassador for WorldatWork representing the association in public forums on matters of professional knowledge/expertise, while developing and sustaining relationships with subject matter experts, other professionals and academics. He is a subject matter expert in the disciplines of benefits and total rewards, maintaining a wide-ranging understanding of practices across the profession, content knowledge and professional relationships in total rewards and human resources. He helps to identify, develop, manage, and grow relationships of critical importance to the association, and as a subject matter expert, helps support WorldatWork's products, events, and initiatives, while serving as an internal consultant and collaborative partner. He is engaged with total rewards professionals through authoring articles, blogging, media interviews, and social media platforms, actively working with other subject matter experts to advance thought leadership, while identifying current and anticipated future issues and challenges that are important to rewards professionals. Other responsibilities include content selection for the annual WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference and Exhibition and serving as staff liaison to the Benefits Advisory Council. He is currently an adjunct professor at Ottawa University where he teaches primarily undergraduate compensation and benefits classes. He is active in the Phoenix area HR community, and served several years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Valley of the Sun Human Resource Association (now SHRM of Greater Phoenix). He twice has received the President's Award from the Arizona State Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Council. He also previously served as the president of the Phoenix Worldwide Employee Benefits (WEB) chapter. Prior to his WorldatWork position, Sanicola worked at Doubletree Hotels where he was corporate benefits manager for more than eight years. Sanicola also held HR positions with Crescent Hotel of Phoenix (now Sheraton Phoenix) and Scottsdale Memorial Health Systems (now HonorHealth). He has been interviewed for his expertise in benefits and total rewards for Inc., The Wall Street Journal, CFO Magazine, NPR, Associated Press, US News & World Report, Fast Company, and numerous HR trade publications.
