Journalist, author, documentary filmmaker

Kevin McKiernan's career as a journalist and filmmaker has taken him to some of the world's most troubled regions, from Nicaragua to Iraq, from West Africa to Afghanistan; his work, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, has been published by Time, Newsweek and the New York Times, and he has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. He is the author of The Kurds: A People in Search of their Homeland (St. Martins Press, 2006). He produced and directed the PBS film Good Kurds, Bad Kurds and co-produced the Frontline film, The Spirit of Crazy Horse. His 2011 documentary Bringing King to China focused on China and Martin Luther King, Jr.

McKiernan is currently working on a new film called Line in the Sand, about the 1973 occupation of Wounded Knee and the role of Native Americans in Northern California.
