Kelly Bulkeley earned a B.A. at Stanford University, an M.T.S. at Harvard Divinity School, and a doctorate at the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is director of the Sleep and Dream Database, a digital archive and search engine designed to promote empirical dream research. He is a Senior Editor of the APA journal Dreaming, a former president of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, an active member of several committees in the American Academy of Religion, and a member of the board of trustees of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He is author and editor of several books, including The Wilderness of Dreams (SUNY Press, 1994), An Introduction to the Psychology of Dreaming (Praeger, 1997), American Dreamers (Beacon, 2008), Dreaming in the World’s Religions (New York University Press, 2008), Big Dreams: The Science of Dreaming and the Origins of Religion (Oxford University Press, 2016), and Lucrecia the Dreamer: Prophecy, Cognitive Science, and the Spanish Inquisition (Stanford University Press, in press). He lives in Portland, Oregon.
