Joe Hill

Chairman, Philadelphia Youth Commission

Joe Hill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a senior at Georgetown University studying Government and Philosophy. Joe also serves as Chairman of the City of Philadelphia’s Youth Commission, advising the Mayor, City Council, and the Philadelphia School District on issues of concern to nearly 300,000 young people in the city. During his years at Georgetown, Joe interned for Congressman Patrick J. Murphy, conducting research on the Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2009, the effort to repeal “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell,” and America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. He is also a fellow with Green for All, the Center for Progressive Leadership, and a scholar with the Drum Major Institute. After graduation, Joe hopes to teach high school civics, social studies, or history in Philadelphia.
