Mistress of Mischief

Gwen is an Emmy award-winning writer and a pioneer in the field of adult transformative play. She began her career designing and building Muppets for Sesame Street then left the “Street” to join an Apple research group at the MIT Media Lab. Gwen has been an artist-in-residence in settings ranging from Xerox Palo Alto Research Center to San Quentin Prison and has applied her insights on play to the design of programs for companies including IDEO, PepsiCo, AARP, and Mattel and groups ranging from life coaches to TSA security officers. She has a masters degree in philosophy and religion and writes and teaches widely on the transformative power of play. A recent recipient of a MacArthur Foundation development grant, Gwen continues to spread the gospel of play through media and as an author, speaker, consultant, and coach.
