Dr. Tarunjit Singh Butalia

Former Secretary General, World Sikh Council - America Region

Dr. Tarunjit Singh Butalia is the former Secretary General of the World Sikh Council -- America Region, Moderator of Religions for Peace -- USA, former Board member of North American Interfaith Network, member of Board of Trustees of the Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions, former member of Board of Trustees of the National Religious Coalition Against Torture, and a member of the Board of Scholars and Practitioners of The Journal of Inter-Religious Dialogue.

He has helped to facilitate the Catholic-Sikh national consultation between the World Sikh Council -– America Region’s Interfaith Committee and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs.

He is also the former President of the Interfaith Association of Central Ohio as well as Trustee of the Sikh Educational and Religious Foundation in Dublin, Ohio. He was a member of the Religious Experience Advisory Council of the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and has co-edited a book titled Religion in Ohio: Profiles of Faith Communities, published by Ohio University Press in 2004 for the 200th birthday of Ohio.

Dr. Butalia is passionate about his faith, and promoting interfaith understanding and respect across religious boundaries.
