David R. Cameron

David R. Cameron is a Professor of Political Science at Yale and the Director of the Yale Program in European Union Studies. He has taught at Yale since 1975. He has served, at various times, as chair, director of graduate studies, and director of undergraduate studies of the department. He teaches courses on European politics and the European Union.

He has written extensively about the impact of trade openness on government and, with respect to the EU, about the initiative to complete the internal market, the operation of the European Monetary System, the negotiation and implementation of Economic and Monetary Union, the enlargement of the EU, the eurozone debt crisis, and, most recently, the EU’s Eastern Partnership and the crisis in Ukraine. His publications include “The Expansion of the Public Economy: A Comparative Analysis,” American Political Science Review, 1978 (one of the ten most-cited APSR articles in the 60 years between 1945 and 2005); Globalization and Self-Determination: Is the Nation-State under Siege?
