Dave Helfert

Adjunct Professor of Political Communication

Dave Helfert worked for more than four decades in the field of political communication. He began as a television news reporter, later wrote and produced media in more than 120 political campaigns (1973-1994), served as a communications director in the Clinton Administration (1994-2000), for two Members of the U.S. House, and the House Appropriations Committee (2001-2010). He has taught political communication and public affairs writing at American and Johns Hopkins Universities in Washington, DC and at Texas State University, and has been a visiting lecturer at U.S. Naval Academy. Helfert's textbook, Political Communication in Action, was recently released by Lynne Rienner Publishers, Inc.
