Christopher Holshek, Colonel (retired), U.S. Army Civil Affairs, is a senior civil-military advisor at Narrative Strategies, the International Peace & Security Institute, Alliance for Peacebuilding, U.S. Global Leadership Coalition “Veterans for Smart Power," and the UN Association. His nearly four decades of civil-military experience includes command of the first U.S. Army Civil Affairs battalion to deploy to Iraq. An international consultant on civil-military and peace operations, he is a rare American that served in UN field missions in civilian and military capacities. He writes extensively on peace and security and civil-military topics, and his op-eds and articles appear regularly in Foreign Policy, The Huffington Post and other publications worldwide. He is also founder of the "National Service Ride" project to move America forward through citizenship and service, based on his book, Travels with Harley - Journeys in Search of Personal and National Identity.
