Christina Weiss Lurie

Co-owner, Philadelphia Eagles

Christina Weiss Lurie’s multi-faceted career spans the worlds of sports, entertainment and philanthropy. She is a Co-Owner of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, one of the most respected franchises in professional sports; Co-Founder of two independent film companies, Vox3 Films and Tango Pictures; and President of Eagles Youth Partnership, a leading charitable foundation.

After purchasing the NFL franchise with Jeffrey Lurie in 1994, Christina Weiss Lurie spearheaded the club’s efforts to become a leader off the field, as well as on it. Most notably, in 1995 she founded Eagles Youth Partnership (EYP), which today serves more than 50,000 low-income children in the Greater Philadelphia region every year and focuses on literacy, vision and after-school programs. EYP directly services kids at their schools and in their neighborhoods via the Eagles Eye Mobile and Eagles Book Mobile, which bring critical services into underserved areas. The organization is also known for its annual playground build and a variety of other programs and events.

She has also been a driving force in the Eagles’ involvement in the important causes of breast cancer and environmental awareness. Her drive to help the team make a difference was capped in 2011, when the team’s EYP, Tackling Breast Cancer and Go Green initiatives earned the team the coveted 2011 Sport Team of the Year award from Beyond Sport, a global organization that promotes, develops and funds the use of sport to create positive social change across the world. They were a finalist for that award in 2010.

In addition to EYP, Christina Weiss Lurie was instrumental in the creation and design of Lincoln Financial Field, the club’s state-of-the-art stadium and the NovaCare Complex, the club’s corporate headquarters and training facility. Both facilities are widely praised for their striking architecture, design and amenities.

In 2003, Christina Weiss Lurie developed Go Green, a ground-breaking initiative to better the environment by creating and sustaining programs that improve the quality of life in the Philadelphia region, green the environment and reduce the team’s impact on the planet. In fact, Christina Weiss Lurie and Jeffrey Lurie were recipients of the 2008 Ongoing Commitment Award from the Environmental Media Association for the Philadelphia Eagles Go Green efforts. In 2009, the Philadelphia Eagles received a Sustainability Award from the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.

The Eagles Tackling Breast Cancer campaign was created in 2004 to raise funds for Jefferson’s Breast Care Center and to promote women’s health awareness. In 2008, the Luries were recognized by Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital with the Award of Merit for their continued support and dedication to Tackling Breast Cancer. In 2010, they were honored by Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business with their Business Leaders of the Year award.

Since 2004, Christina Weiss Lurie produced a diversified slate of independent films. She produced the independent feature films, America Brown, Game 6, starring Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr., Feel, a Matt Mahurin film, and executive produced Broken English, a Zoe Cassavetes film starring Parker Posey, and Never Forever, starring Vera Farmiga. Most recently, she executive produced Adam, starring Hugh Dancy and Rage, a Sally Potter film. Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. is also a Vox3 production.

In addition to her active role in sports and entertainment, Christina Weiss Lurie serves on a number of boards, including The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the ICA in Philadelphia and the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. The Lurie Family Foundation was also established by Christina Weiss Lurie and Jeffrey Lurie with an emphasis on health issues, especially in the areas of autism and cancer research. The Foundation supports documentaries addressing global issues through Screen Pass Pictures, a documentary film company established by the Luries. Screen Pass Pictures executive produced Sergio and Inside Job in 2010, as well as Inocente and A Place at the Table in 2012. Inside Job earned the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Feature) in 2011 and Inocente won for Best Documentary (Short) in 2013. Screen Pass Pictures is currently in production on Revolution.
