Born in Paris, Brigitte Engler studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris and at the Whitney ISP in New-York. Her work has been exhibited in Italy in a museum show “Anniottanta”, in Germany at the Barbara Gross gallery in a show curated by Kiki Smith, New-York in a one person show reviewed in Art in America by David Ebony, in several group shows curated by Nancy Spero. Among other shows, she showed at the Holly Solomon gallery in a show examining Folk Art references in contemporary art called “City Folks” curated by Carlo McCormick and Aaron Rose. Brigitte Engler had a solo show in Paris at the Gordon Pym& Fils gallery. Her first one person show at PØST was written up by Chris Kraus in Art&Text. 

Brigitte Engler has written articles on contemporary artists for French magazines and the new-york based PAPER magazine.
