Brian Shactman

Brian A. Shactman is a television anchor and reporter.

Most recently, he hosted "Way Too Early" on MSNBC and also served as a contributor to "Morning Joe". Before his stint at MSNBC, he spent six years at sister network CNBC. As an anchor and reporter, Shactman covered a range of stories, including the BP oil spill, the fall of Bear Stearns, the final Space Shuttle launch, and Hurricanes Isaac and Sandy. In 2012, he earned an Emmy Award nomination for covering the oil boom in North Dakota.

During his time at CNBC, Shactman also hosted “CNBC Sports Biz: Game On” which aired on the NBC Sports Network and “Worldwide Exchange” on CNBC.

Shactman also has done several documentaries for NBC Universal: "Cigarette Wars," "America's Oil Rush," and "Dangerous Trade: Exotic Animals."

Prior to CNBC, he worked at the NBC owned-and-operated station in Connecticut, as well as ESPN, where Shactman contributed on all platforms: ESPN Radio, SportsCenter, ESPNews, and ESPN.com.

Shactman received a B.A. in English and History from Amherst College and a Master of Arts degree in English literature from Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
