Bevin Carnes

Animator

Bevin Carnes has been pursuing a career in animation and film for almost as long as she can remember. She made her first stop-motion animated film at the age of 8, as part of her 3rd grade science project. She has gone on to graduate from the world-renowned Computer Animation program at Ringling College of Art and Design, where she also won the President’s award for her senior thesis film at the annual Best of Ringling Exhibition.

Bevin’s student film from Ringling also won the Bronze Medal Award at the 2007 Student Academy Awards, as well as being shown at prominent film festivals around the world, including the Sarasota International Film Festival, the Nashville Film Festival, and the Ars Electronica Festival. She was also featured on Good Morning America in 2008 as an up and coming filmmaker and animator.

She has since worked as a character animator for Disney Feature Animation and Fox Animation/Blue Sky Studios on such feature films as the Oscar-nominated Bolt and the highest-grossing animated feature of all time (at the time of its release) Ice Age 3:Dawn of the Dinosaurs. She is now working on several projects as an independent filmmaker, and hopes to soon start an independent production company.

In addition to her commitment to filmmaking Bevin is an activist in issues related to young artists in the digital age. She is featured in the Copyright Alliance’s Copyright 'Creators Across America' video series speaking out on the importance of Copyright.

Bevin is passionate about the issues of artist’s rights in the digital age, and hopes to foster a discussion of potential solutions to the problems of piracy and new business models that will benefit both creators and consumers in the future. She has been to Washington to lobby on Copyright issues, and hopes to continue her efforts to bring awareness to these issues in the future.
