Beth S. Bernstein

Event Planner

For nearly a decade, Beth handled multi-million-dollar accounts for some of Chicago’s top advertising agencies. Her keen eye for design and attention to detail allowed her to stand out in pleasing both clients and bosses, and she blossomed in the creative industry.

Beth took time off for a more important “account” when her first child was born, and soon found new outlets for her natural creativity and project-management skills. Rather than return to the corporate world, she dedicated herself to charitable efforts – planning events that raised needed funds for local city schools, the Chicago Park District, her synagogue, and others.

As she poured her time and talent into a series of successful and stylish events, the question kept coming: “Why aren’t you a professional event planner?”

The answer came when she launched Sine Qua Non: Special Events, LLC. in May 2009.

The name Sine Qua Non comes from the Latin phrase which translates to, "indispensable or essential ingredient." That is what Beth has become to the dozens of couples she has guided through the wedding planning process over the past three years. SQN Events has quickly risen to become one of Chicago's leading wedding planning companies, and Beth is well-respected amongst her peers as a leader and great "team player." Beth recently received Wish Upon a Wedding’s “Shining Star” award for 2012.

Beth has spoken at the University of Chicago, Roosevelt University, and several industry events to inspire people who want to pursue careers in the wedding industry or take their current businesses further. Additionally, Beth attends numerous national industry conferences to further her education, hone her skills, and make connections all over the country.

Beth is also a contributor to the national weddings newswire, TheBrideScoop, and her work has been featured in numerous magazines and blogs, including: Style Me Pretty, A City Wedding, Elizabeth Anne Designs, Delightfully Wed, So You're EnGAYged, 10 Thousand Couples, ChicagoStyle Weddings, and Chicago Social Brides.
