Arlene Nisson Lassin

Arlene Nisson Lassin earned a master’s degree in Educational Psychology and worked in diverse positions through the years including promotions for the Philadelphia Phillies, as an investigator for a federal agency, and in industrial psychology. Recently Arlene completed a post master’s program in the Jesse Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University in entrepreneurship, graduating in May 2012. Like the great pioneers, after graduate school, she moved west – to Houston, Texas. An offer from a small newspaper to write features launched a writing career that has resulted in Arlene’s being published nationally, regionally, and locally. As a free lance journalist, she was contracted by the 7th largest daily newspaper in the U.S., the Houston Chronicle, to write love stories for the Sunday edition, people and religion features, and other items of interest to the community. She is also currently affiliated with several Houston based magazines. Her latest passion is blogging, both on this site and at www.arlenelassin.com The blogs reflect areas of interest, humorous musings on life, as well as topical essays, and think pieces. “Hot Flashes,” it is her way of saying “Hot Topics” with a wink and a nod to the middle years. Arlene has a novel in progress, and two other outlined ideas for novels. They will all be written in the Chick Lit genre, and will feature her patented brand of humor. She is the wife of Gary Lassin and the mother of Brett Riesenfeld, an honors graduate of the University of Texas Law School who is a current associate with the firm Vinson & Elkins; and Elissa Riesenfeld, who completed her master’s degree in counseling and passed her national boards, and works as a licensed professional counselor in Dallas. Arlene also boasts three wonderful stepchildren, Chad, an artist, Adam, a veterinarian, and Perry, who is in the free lance digital photography industry in New York, and their wonderful significant others: Vanessa, Josh, Jess, Andi and Sarah.
