Andrea Pino

Founder, End Rape on Campus

Andrea L. Pino is an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and English. A first generation college student from Miami, Florida, she studies gender violence, Title IX, psychology, and mental health through her independent academic research and minor in Women and Gender Studies. Although a long time advocate against sexual violence, Andrea began focusing her research on the national prevalence of college sexual violence and trauma induced illness, after she was raped by a fellow UNC student her second year in college.
Andrea is involved in various areas of university life, and has worked extensively in residence life, student advocacy, and student safety. She is a passionate sexual assault prevention educator, and works on student-focused programming in areas of bystander education, healthy relationships, and mental health. Post-graduation, Andrea hopes to delve deeper in her work and research on sexual violence and trauma induced illness, and hopes to pursue a joint J.D./Ph.D to study the neurobiological effects of trauma, and how they intersect with policy and law, specifically Title IX.
