Alireza Jafarzadeh
Author, 'The Iran Threat'
Alireza Jafarzadeh is the author of The Iran Threat: President Ahmadinejad and the Coming Nuclear Crisis (Palgrave Macmillan, March 2008).
The international concerns about Iran’s nuclear weapons program has largely arisen from Jafarzadeh’s stunning revelations about more than a dozen major previously secret nuclear sites. Jafarzadeh revealed the existence of Natanz uranium enrichment facility, and Arak's heavy water facility in 2002, Kalaye Electric centrifuge testing facility near Tehran, and Lashkar Ab'ad laser enrichment facility in 2003. His nuclear revelations triggered inspection of Iranian sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2003.
As an accomplished analyst, Jafarzadeh has frequently appeared on major television and radio broadcasts including CBS Evening News, CNN-American Morning, CNN-Lou Dobbs, MSNBC, Fox News, and C-Span. He has published essays in, and been interviewed by the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, and Christian Science Monitor.
Jafarzadeh has lectured at National War College, Georgetown University, and University of Michigan, and has been a frequent speaker at briefings, hearings and luncheons at the US Congress, and the United Nations.
Until 2003, Jafarzadeh acted for a dozen years as the communications director for the US representative office of Iran’s parliament in exile, the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
Jafarzadeh earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, and his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas, in Austin.
