The lake is estimated to be 12 miles to 18 miles across and buried 1 mile beneath the icy surface.
Just a few hundred miles above the South Pole, runners braved fierce weather conditions in the Antarctic Ice Marathon.
The famed astronaut was transported to New Zealand for medical treatment.
This would be one of the hardest things I’d ever have to do.
In 1986, Robert Swan made the longest unassisted walk ever to the South Pole. Three years later he went onto the North Pole and by the age of 33, he became first person in history to walk to both North and South Pole.
