George Zimmerman Lawyer To Resume NBC News Lawsuit 'ASAP'

Zimmerman Lawyer: We Will Move 'ASAP' Against NBC News

After his acquittal in the killing of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman is now set to renew his push for legal action against NBC News, the Washington Post reported.

The network was forced to apologize for its botched editing Zimmerman's 911 call in 2012. The edit made it sound like Zimmerman voluntarily told an operator that Martin was black. In fact, he was responding to a question about Martin's race.

NBC fired a reporter and a producer for the error, but that was not enough for Zimmerman, who announced in December that he was suing the network for defamation.

The Washington Post's Erik Wemple spoke to Zimmerman attorney James Beasley, who said that the suit had been suspended until Zimmerman's murder trial was completed. Now that the trial is over, Beasley wrote, “We’re going to start in earnest asap."
