White House Tree Lighting Photos: Michelle Obama & Family Cozy Up! (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Plus... President Obama sings!

The Obama family bundled up at the White House on Thursday night as celebrities, staff and their children gathered to flip the switch -- yes, there's an actual switch! -- for the 90th annual Christmas tree lighting.

"Our tree has been having a hard time recently. This is our third one in as many years," Obama said, referring to a tree recently felled by a storm. "It just goes to show, nobody's job is safe here in Washington," he joked.

And of course, the family put on their coolest winter clothes for the occasion. Michelle Obama looked lovely in her green gloves, J.Crew teal coat, which she first debuted in 2009, and white pants. (An interesting choice for winter, but we'll go along with it.) Malia and Sasha also looked cozy in their winterwear, with Malia in her pink coat she's worn several times. The president asked the family to join in in his rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." (Dad, you're so embarrassing!)

But not to worry: POTUS' off-key warbling wasn't the only musical accoutrements of the night. The crowd of 17,000 who gathered on the White House's south side was treated to some entertainment from Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Ledisi, Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat, James Taylor and The Fray. Neil Patrick Harris and Rico Rodriguez were also on hand to join in the festivities.

The 28-foot blue spruce tree was donated from a nursery in North Carolina.
