59 years ago, on June 7th, a legend was born. Prince Rogers Nelson fondly referred to as his Purple Majesty, shared his talent with the world, leaving an exponential amount of influence. To honor Prince, R&B/Soul Powerhouse Mothers Favortie Child alongside CeCe Peniston, will honor his work with a new, funky, and soulful sound that will electrify any dance floor.
With their new single “Purple Funk”, these creatives simply want to pay homage to one of the greatest entertainers of all time, in the best way they know how; thru music. Paris Toon the writer and producer behind this fabulous new tune, shared her inspiration behind this masterpiece.
“This song is dedicated to Prince and my dear friend John Blackwell (Prince's drummer),” commented Toon. “I wrote and produced this song to show where my inspiration for music first came from. I wanted to create something that Prince would give me a thumbs up on and when John told me he would have loved the track that was all the validation I needed.”
Adding the undisputed Queen of House Music, CeCe Peniston to this single, was the perfect touch to make this an incredible tribute to Prince. She brings a fun, lively sound that meshes well with Mothers Favorite Child’s vibe and Toon’s ecletic music style.
