Melissa McCarthy's Sean Spicer Bloopers From 'Saturday Night Live' May Be Even Funnier Than Episode

New Yorkers kept shouting at McCarthy as she drove her lectern through the streets.

New Yorkers regularly have commutes of being bombarded by all sorts of wacky characters, so it takes something truly bizarre to even register amid their noise-canceling headphones and the necessary dodging between slow walkers.

Melissa McCarthy dressed as Sean Spicer and driving a press lectern through street traffic is definitely absurd enough to register though.

“Saturday Night Live” just released behind-the-scenes footage of McCarthy’s shoot. Though the original sketch was pretty good, these bloopers might be even funnier.

The recent McCarthy hosted episode had the highest month of May ratings the show has gotten in seven years, so it’s clear that love for her Spicer impression is widespread. This is abundantly clear in the new blooper footage, as people keep screaming encouragement to McCarthy as she’s driving down the street. At one point, basically an entire office floor comes to their high-rise window to start waving down at her.

As McCarthy has done the Spicer sketch a few times, the recent iteration felt a bit played out. Watching McCarthy interact with fans and break character, though, is an endearing twist.

In a particularly funny moment (although with dark undertones), McCarthy has to figure out what to do when an emergency vehicle needs her to drive her lectern out of the way. You don’t have to squint too much to see the metaphor there.

Watch the video above. If you’re a New Yorker, you’ll be envious of McCarthy’s innovative mode of transportation. Certainly beats a packed-to-capacity subway car.
