As a native Nashvillian, I love to learn the things that are going on in the community. As a lover of blogging and social media, I like to network with like minded people. I must say, I have been back over a year and not much networking has been going on..but that all changed recently.

I decided to do an experiment on Facebook in August and made a post stating,

Nashville, I am looking to network with like minded people. Tell me about events and groups in the city that you attend or host.

I received some Facebook likes but no responses. But what I forgot was that my Facebook posts automatically post to my Twitter. On August 16th I received a response from Shatona Kilgore Groves, owner of Crown Events, inviting me to the 1st Annual Nashville Blogging and Social Media Conference to be held on September 1st. When I saw the flyer I was excited to see six speakers that are seasoned in the industry. I was excited to attend the sold out event because it proved that there is a strong blogging and social media presence in Nashville.

Fast forward to September 1st, there was a seven speaker lineup and a packed house. I was shocked to learn Shatona has only been back in Nashville for two months and she was able to create such a wonderful event in that timeframe.

The first part of the event was focused on Blogging. The speakers for the blogging section were: Monchiere Holmes-Jones of Mojo Marketing, Dan R. Morris of Blogging Concentrated and Ayumi Bennett of Startup Southerner.

The second part of the event was focused on Social Media. The topics that were covered were: Twitter, Live Streaming, Instagram and Online Brand. The speakers for the social media section were: Tiffany Perkins of tiffandcoco.com, Dr. Aikyna Finch of Changing Minds Online, Dee Raz of The Daily Raz and Jason Luntz of the Tennessee Tribune.

The event was wonderful! There was a great amount of learning and networking happening amongst the speakers and audience. There were great reviews as well, check out the hashtag, #bsc2016 to see a few of them from the event. Each of the speakers are doing great things in blogging and social media. Follow each of them to stay in the know about the industry.

Please follow Shatona Kilgore Groves and be on the look out for the events coming soon in Nashville and beyond. She can be found at bookcrownevents.com
