Comedians Highlight The Crazy Things Women Go Through To Get An Abortion

The video is an exaggeration...hardly.

You’ve heard of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” ― but in a new NARAL-produced video, comedians are in cars getting something else: abortions.

The video, “Comedians in Cars Getting Abortions,” features comedians Alice Wetterlund and Nato Green on Green’s satirical Jerry-Seinfeld-webisode spin-off. Green happens to pick up Wetterlund as she’s leaving the house to try and get an abortion.

In Wetterlund’s pursuit for reproductive health care, she comes across the many road blocks that anti-abortion legislation and the anti-abortion movement at large have set for women.

The first clinic that Wetterlund and Green visit is boarded up and closed. When the two of them try to find another one, they accidentally end up at a Crisis Pregnancy Center ― local centers, often near abortion clinics, where religious staff members with no medical background attempt to coerce pregnant women into carrying their pregnancies to term.

Eventually, the duo finally finds an actual abortion clinic, but the doctor is forced to comply with ludicrous state laws.

The doctor also must show Wetterlund what her future child will look like “at various stages of development,” one of which is at 536 weeks. So, you know, 10 years old.

The video is a humorous nod to what, in reality, is an incredibly serious issue ― even with the recent Supreme Court decision about Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, the state of abortion access in many US states is still abysmal.
